February can be a tough month financially so I’m sharing a few tips on how I save money when shopping online and how you can too!
All these things take quite little effort but can easily save you money. It all adds up!
1. Create an Account and Sign up to Mailing Lists
I do this with all my favourite brands. With most retailers, creating an account allows you to save products to your “Favourites.” I save all the items I have my eye on.
Companies will always email you to say they’re running a sale or a promotion. When you get the email you can go straight into your saved items and quickly see if anything has been reduced.
This method is so easy to do. The downside is, you might not be able to get the item at a discount right away, and you risk it being sold out by the time it goes on sale.
2. Use Quidco
I’ve been using Quidco for years now and it has saved me hundreds of pounds! Quidco is a cash-back site, that gives you a small percentage of your order back. All you have to do is click through to the retailer from the Quidco site.
Most retailers are on Quidco, and it’s straightforward to use. The only downside is, it does take a while for the money to confirm. This is because, if you return your purchase you don’t get the cash-back!
If you haven’t tried Quidco yet, you can sign up HERE. * Using my referral link will give you £5 credit in your account. Once you earn £5 worth of cash-back I also get a commission, there is no additional cost to you!
3. Add the Honey Chrome Extension
Honey is another cash-back site. I’ve never used it for cashback as I prefer Quidco but what I love about Honey is the discount feature! I’ve made a short video below of how it works.
When you come to checkout, click the Honey extension button and it will run a search of all active discount codes and apply the best one for your order. It takes seconds and has often saved me up to 25%.
You can sign up for Honey HERE. * If you sign up and make a purchase through Honey using this link I may get a small commission. There is no additional cost to you!
4. Shop the Sales
I’m a massive fan of sale shopping. If it’s something I really want, I try to be quick. Often in sales, the best pieces sell out quickly. Most brands do further reductions or an extra 20% off a little while after the sale has started. If you’re happy to risk waiting you can often get a real bargain.
You can see my previous post about “Best Sale Pieces from Luxury High Street Brands” HERE.
5. Don’t Bother with Shoptagr
I’ve only recently discovered Shoptgr after hearing a few people rave about it. So far, I’m not very impressed by it!
Shoptgr is another Chrome plugin designed to help you save money when shopping online. It can also notify you when an out of stock product comes back into stock. Clothes often get returned so if you really want something this is a great way to keep your eye on it without doing any work!
I’ve been trying it out for a couple of weeks now and so far, haven’t found it very useful. It has A LOT of pop-ups, everytime I look at anything, I get a pop-up telling me to save the item!
I also haven’t got any useful notifications yet. It didn’t tell me any of my H&M favourites were reduced, even though they had a 14% off Valentine’s day promotion.
I had one notification to say something was back in stock but when I looked it was still out of stock, it could have been wrong or I might have been too slow!
I’m going to keep it for a bit longer and see if it grows on me but for now, I don’t recommend it!
So, that concludes my 5 ways to easily save money when shopping online post.
Thank you for reading, I hope you’ve found this post useful – happy saving!
