Hi, I’m Alex aka Mum in the City
I’m a London-based mum, writer, and content creator sharing practical family travel guides and itineries. You’ll also find timeless, elegant style inspiration; product reviews and tips on sustainable, clean living.
My blog started as a place to capture our family adventures, but it has grown into something much more meaningful: a space dedicated to travel that feels good, style that lasts, and making the most of everyday living.
I believe you don’t have to stop travelling or compromise your style just because you have children. In my travel guides I show you that you can still travel as a family and create beautiful memories, even when trips aren’t full of kid-centric activities.
In 2021, my husband and I moved from the suburbs of England to New York City, with our two-year-old in tow. This experience was a dream come true and changed our whole outlook on life. We welcomed our second baby boy in NYC, then moved to London in 2023, where we currently live.
Family Travel
I have always loved to travel and explore beautiful destinations and that hasn’t changed since having children.
Travelling with children has taught me that less really is more. For us, travel is about slowing down, prioritising what genuinely works for our family, and not trying to do everything. From local gems to bucket-list destinations, I share tips on how to travel smart and stylishly while making the most of every moment.
I focus on making trips family-friendly, with experiences that feel enjoyable rather than overwhelming. Whether that’s a city break, a beach escape, or a day exploring closer to home. The goal is always the same: travel that works for real family life.
Family travel doesn’t have to break the bank. We travel in affordable luxury style, meaning my mission is to seek out unforgettable experiences, charming stays, and family-friendly adventures without overspending.

Dress Intentionally
Fashion has always been something that is important to me. I studied Fashion Design at university, and went on to work in fashion buying before giving it up to be a full-time mum.
As a mum, I think it’s important to still feel good about yourself and what you wear, even in the middle of busy, everyday life. I’m passionate about building a capsule wardrobe that feels effortless, feminine, and functional, with pieces that last and outfits that make getting dressed feel easy again.
From seasonal essentials to budget-friendly style hacks, I share how to create your dream wardrobe without overspending.

Live Sustainably
Clean living and choosing toxin-free products have become inctrasingly import to me since becoming a mother. I’ve become much more mindful in the choices I make and the products I buy.
My aim is to switch to more toxic-free products to improve my family’s health and to protect the world we love to explore.
To me, sustainability is about making small, realistic changes that add up over time. Not seeking perfection all at once. I’m sharing my journey to help you do the same.
