Just one hour from London you’ll find the beautiful little city of Cambridge. We had so much fun exploring here.

Save this list for when you visit:
1. GO PUNTING - Freddie (age 4) said this was the best thing to do and he’s a tough critic! A punt is a special flat bottomed boat pushed along with a pole. This is the best way to see the city! We punted with @traditional_punting_company (ad / pr collaboration)
.
2. VISIT THE FREE MUSEUMS - Cambridge is home to six free museums. We visited three, they are smaller than the London museums but great for kids.
.
3. SEARCH FOR DINKY DOORS - there are 15 sweet little doors hidden around Cambridge, 9 in the center. The boys love hunting for them and it was a great way to see the city. @dinkydoors
.
4. EAT CHELSEA BUNS - @fitzbillies in Cambridge is famous for Chelsea Buns and they did not disappoint. We tried a few flavors and this chocolate and sea salt was my favorite!

So grateful for all the new followers over the past couple of weeks so a quick re-introduction post.

I’m Alex, just a mum in love with the city and enjoying sharing that love with my kids (and you all as well!)

3 years ago we packed up everything and moved from the suburbs of England to NYC for my husbands work. This was a dream come true and completely changed our lives in the most amazing way.
.
We spent two years in NYC before getting sent back to England where we’ve made London our new home. We’ve done so much in London but there’s still so much more to explore!
.
I don’t believe you always need to spend a lot of money to have a good time so here you’ll find lots of free / affordable activities with a few treats thrown in!
.
I post mainly about London but we love to travel and I also occasionally share other cities here and have lots of travel guides on my blog.

Greenwich is such a beautiful area of London. Just a 10 minute train ride from London Bridge Station.

Family-Friendly things to do:
- The Cove Playground & Maritime Museum (free)
- Walk the Greenwich Foot Tunnel underneath the River Thames (free)
- Explore Greenwich Park, the view from the top of the hill is worth the hike. (Free) Visit the Observatory while you’re up there. (Paid)
- Climb aboard The Cutty Sark, the only surviving tea clipper ship (Paid)
- Ride the IFS Sound Cable Car (located in North Greenwich) (Paid)
- Play on Greenwich’s “beach” during low tide (free)
- Explore the beautiful grounds of the Old Royal Naval College (free)

Did you know the Hundred Acer Wood was inspired by a real place? The Ashdown Forest (two hours from London) is where AA Milne went to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and where he wrote most of the Winnie The Pooh stories.
.
The Forest has an amazing tribute to the stories. With a fun trail where you can discover the characters houses and even play Pooh Sticks on the original bridge!
.

🎃 Does anyone else think pumpkin picking is a b

🎃 Does anyone else think pumpkin picking is a bit overrated?
.
At the weekend we visited @tulleyspumpkins which is meant to be one of the best. I’d been there about 3 minutes when I realized it wasn’t the place for me 🙈
.
Why?
- It was extremely muddy. My little one actually couldn’t wade through it.
- My older one loves to get dirty but of course, this was the day he decided he needed to be clean!
- Am I the only one who thought you’d cut your pumpkin off the vine? Not just pick up a ridiculously overpriced one covered in dirt. You can get a clean one from @tescofood for a quarter of the price!
- There’s plenty of instagram worthy photo opportunities but there’s only so many times kids will pose nicely.
- You pay to go in then end up spending more on food, drink and the pumpkins.
- Squeezing ketchup out of some sort of cow udder was just too much for me 😂
- The scarecrows on stilts we’re cool but terrified all the kids!
- The weather was cold and miserable (obviously not their fault!)
.
Looking back on our photos, it actually looks like we were having a great time 😂 kinda glad we did it, probably won’t be going back next year.

The Cutty Sark in Greenwich, London is a great family-friendly activity but adult tickets are £20 (age 5-18 £10 and under 5s free) which is on the expensive side.

However, they run a “Ship Mates” class on Wednesdays for little kids that costs just £5 per child. Accompanying adults are free. The class is fantastic and afterwards you’re free to explore the ship!

So grateful for all the new followers over the past couple of weeks so a quick re-introduction post.

I’m Alex, just a mum in love with the city and enjoying sharing that love with my kids (and you all as well!)

3 years ago we packed up everything and moved from the suburbs of England to NYC for my husbands work. This was a dream come true and completely changed our lives in the most amazing way.

We spent two years in NYC before getting sent back to England where we’ve made London our new home. We’ve done so much in London but there’s still so much more to explore!

I don’t believe you always need to spend a lot of money to have a good time so here you’ll find lots of free / affordable activities with a few treats thrown in!

I post mainly about London but we love to travel and I also occasionally share other cities here and have lots of travel guides on my blog.

Greenwich is such a beautiful area of London. Just a 10 minute train ride from London Bridge Station.

Family-Friendly things to do:
- The Cove Playground & Maritime Museum (free)
- Walk the Greenwich Foot Tunnel underneath the River Thames (free)
- Explore Greenwich Park, the view from the top of the hill is worth the hike. (Free) Visit the Observatory while you’re up there. (Paid)
- Climb aboard The Cutty Sark, the only surviving tea clipper ship (Paid)
- Ride the IFS Sound Cable Car (located in North Greenwich) (Paid)
- Play on Greenwich’s “beach” during low tide (free)
- Explore the beautiful grounds of the Old Royal Naval College (free)

Did you know the Hundred Acer Wood was inspired by a real place? The Ashdown Forest (two hours from London) is where AA Milne went to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and where he wrote most of the Winnie The Pooh stories.
.
The Forest has an amazing tribute to the stories. With a fun trail where you can discover the characters houses and even play Pooh Sticks on the original bridge!

🎃 Does anyone else think pumpkin picking is a bit overrated?
.
At the weekend we visited @tulleyspumpkins which is meant to be one of the best. I’d been there about 3 minutes when I realized it wasn’t the place for me 🙈
.
Why?
- It was extremely muddy. My little one actually couldn’t wade through it.
- My older one loves to get dirty but of course, this was the day he decided he needed to be clean!
- Am I the only one who thought you’d cut your pumpkin off the vine? Not just pick up a ridiculously overpriced one covered in dirt. You can get a clean one from @tescofood for a quarter of the price!
- There’s plenty of instagram worthy photo opportunities but there’s only so many times kids will pose nicely.
- You pay to go in then end up spending more on food, drink and the pumpkins.
- Squeezing ketchup out of some sort of cow udder was just too much for me 😂
- The scarecrows on stilts we’re cool but terrified all the kids!
- The weather was cold and miserable (obviously not their fault!)
.
Looking back on our photos, it actually looks like we were having a great time 😂 kinda glad we did it, probably won’t be going back next year.
