MUDLARKS AT THE MUSEUM OF LONDON DOCKLANDS

LONDON WITH KIDS – CITY GUIDE

We recently visited the Mudlarks at the Museum of London Docklands and had such a great time! You can read everything you need to know about the museum in general HERE but I wanted to do a separate post about Mudlarks as it’s a paid gallery.

Mudlarks is a hands-on gallery designed for children under 8. For reference, my boys are 4 and 12 months old. There are so many hands-on activities and a small soft play that my 4-year-old was overjoyed about.

MUDLARKS AT THE MUSEUM OF LONDON DOCKLANDS – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

There is a lot of interactive toys such as the docklands activity table pictured above. This has boats you can push around and magnetic whinches to move the cargo. Theres also giant weighing schales, building blocks and wheelbarrows, and this divers helmet my boys loved.

The main thing they were excited about is the soft play. It isn’t the biggest or most amazing, if youre coming from the suburbs, youve probable been to better, however, theres not many big soft plays in the city and this is one of the best weve been to! The baby area (right photo) is very sweet and nicely designed. Jaxon also enjoyed the water table.

Timing: you get a 45-minute timed session.

Booking: costs £3 per person (free for under 9 months). I don’t like when adults also have to pay to go into something for children however entry to the museum is free and with travel time, it ended up filling most of the day. So £9 for a day out in London isn’t a bad price!

You need to book in advance and can do so on the website linked HERE.

Parent Tip: there is a soft play area where shoes need to be removed. There’s also a water area and kids will either have to put their shoes back on or (like mine) get wet feet. So bring spare socks!

Overall, we had a great day at the Museum of London Docklands and the boys certanally enjoyed Mudlarks.

Don’t forget to check out our guide to the rest of the museum.

Thanks for reading and happy exploring,

Alex
