The Best Board Books About London for Toddlers

This section is about the best books about London for toddlers. Mainly board books with exciting, lift-the-flaps, sounds or sensory features. I have two boys under five, and they both like all of these. Further down, I will share some great London books for older kids as well!

1. Busy London by Marion Billet

This is a really sweet children’s book about London and is a perfect introduction to the city. Both my boys LOVE this one. It has push-and-pull sliders and a London Eye to spin around. It is also great for teaching fine motor skills!

This book is by the same author, so it’s not surprising that this is another great toddler book about London. It’s slightly different as it is set on a red London bus, and it is also a noisy book!

3. London Sounds by Sam Taplin

This is another London children’s book that both my kids enjoy. It mentions some key spots you’ll want to visit and has interactive buttons that make the sounds of London, such as the Buckingham Palace Changing of the Guard ceremony.

This is a really lovely story!

4. Jane Foster’s London by Jane Foster

This is a very sweet and beautifully illustrated baby book about London. It’s a simple one-picture and one-word per page book that is really great for getting toddlers excited about key London sights such a The Tower of London or a red phone box (phone booth to my American friends!)

My eldest (aged 4) is a little old for this one, but my baby enjoys it a lot!

Best Children’s Books About London

Here are some London children’s books that probably aren’t suitable for a baby, but my 4-year-old loves and would highly recommend them! If you’re shopping for a preschooler or child, these are great choices!

5. Lonely Planet Pop-Up London

This is a really great, interactive book about London for children. The pop-up pages are really cool, and we learnt a lot of interesting things from this book. It doesn’t have too many words on each page so its easier for little kids to understand.

I think it was the one that made our 4-year-old most excited about moving to a new city!

6. Paddington’s London Story Treasury by Michael Bond

This is a must-read London book for any little Paddington Bear fans and their grown-ups! This one has 4 London-themed Paddington Bear stories. They are slightly longer and make good plane entertainment for my eldest! Now we often read them at bedtime.

7. A Walk in London by Salvatore Rubbino

I got this one in a charity shop shortly after we moved to London, and it was the best £1 I have spent in a long time! I almost didn’t buy it because I thought it might be too old for my 4-year-old, but he’s sat and read it with me so many times! It has so many interesting facts, and we have all learnt a lot from it.
