I love spring fashion, the weather is a little bit warmer and you can focus on putting together outfits rather than just what’s under your winter coat! You can also start to mix in a little bit of colour and pretty floral prints. This post is about essential items you need in your spring capsule wardrobe. As always, I like to give them a feminine chic twist.
In this post, I’ll be focusing on the feminine wardrobe essentials you need to build a chic spring capsule wardrobe you’ll love year after year.
I’ve recently become more focused on sustainability. Buying fewer pieces from budget fashion brands and trying to buy more from quality, mid-range fashion brands such as Whistles and Reiss. I will try to link both options for you as I know everyone has a different budget.

SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBE ESSENTIALS:
1. TRENCH COAT
A classic trench coat should be one of the top items in any women’s capsule wardrobe. To give a feminine twist, my trench coat is a beautiful blush pink colour. Mine is from H&M but it has been serving me well for five-plus years now. Most likely I’m going to add a classic beige or cream trench coat to my wardrobe this spring.

2. TWEED BLAZER
A blazer is another classic wardrobe essential. Tweed is such a feminine, chic fabric and I think it’s the perfect material for a blazer. A blazer is a great way to dress up a casual outfit and can be worn over skirts, trousers or even a dress! It is also such a practical piece to keep you warm on cool spring days.
Opt for a neutral colour that will work with every outfit and will never go out of style.

3. SILK CHIFFON BLOUSE
A classic white shirt is on every capsule wardrobe list. While it is a great wardrobe essential, I don’t find it to be very feminine. I prefer a soft silk or chiffon blouse instead.
A long-sleeved blouse can also be layered under a sleeveless dress creating a different look for spring and summer.
A plain, neutral colour is a spring fashion essential however, this is a good place to add a little colour or a subtle print to your wardrobe. Stick to a select colour palette of soft pastels. Personally, I like blush pink, occasionally adding in a bit of sage green.

4. TAILORED CARDIGAN
The weather in spring can still be chilly, especially in England, so a tailored cardigan is a must-have! I found this one in the TU Clothing sale. It looks so much more premium than it is! Choose something with a fancy button or pearl detail to give a feminine vibe.
I like a tailored cardigan as it looks more chic, sometimes big baggy cardigains can look frumpy if they’re not styled well.

5. MIDI SKIRT
A midi skirt is a great wardrobe essential that you can style for any season. Again, here you could go for a neutral colour or add your accent colour. Two years ago I added a sage green pleated midi to my wardrobe and I have got a lot of wear out of it by pairing it with a neutral top and blazer.
The pleated style with an elasticated waist is very flattering, especially if you’re looking to hide your stomach area. After having two babies, I certainly am!

6. WIDE LEG TROUSERS
Since having kids, I’ve started to wear trousers more. They are easier to chase children in than a dress or skirt but I still want to feel feminine in them.
I find trousers so much more comfortable than jeans. They’re also so much more chic and feminine. Mine are from Reiss (bought on Vinted) and have an elasticated waist. Making them both practical and stylish.
I’ve found wide-leg trousers to be a flattering fit on me but if this style doesn’t work for you, substitute them with a different fit.

7. CROPPED CIGARETTE TROUSERS
Another great feminine, spring capsule wardrobe essential for timeless style is cropped cigarette trousers. These were my go-to last spring for doing the school run or heading to the playground.
Mine are from H&M and have worn and washed so well. They come in many colours. I love the light beige checked style as they add a little bit of subtle texture to my wardrobe.

8. MIDI DRESS
A floral midi dress is a feminine wardrobe staple when it comes to spring fashion. Choose a floaty fabric to make it look extra feminine and chic.

9. MINI DRESS
These days my version of a mini dress is one that falls just above my knees, choose a length and style that suits your figure. I always feel most confident in an A-line dress!
I save a look like this for something like coffee with a friend, certainly not a playground outfit!

10. LOAFERS
A classic loafer is the perfect way to finish off your timeless spring outfits. I think they’re so much more chic than sneakers/trainers.
If you do a lot of walking, It’s definitely worth investing in comfortable shoes.
Other spring shoes I love are beige ankle boots, ballet flats and a pair of low-heeled wedges.

11. STRAW BASKET BAG
I love a straw bag for spring and summer, it’s the perfect accessory! I try to pick one with a shoulder strap as it keeps my hands free for the children.
A designer bag will instantly elevate an outfit and make it look more premium but I have also linked some cheaper alternatives.
