One of the highlights from our trip to Dallas was searching for all the colourful murals in Deep Ellum. We enjoyed it so much, I thought I’d put together a complete guide on where to find all the best murals in Dallas, Deep Ellum.

Dallas is full of creativity, but if you want to see the city’s most colourful side, head straight to Deep Ellum. This historic neighbourhood in Dallas is packed with incredible murals, from bold graffiti walls to girly Instagram-worthy backdrops.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect photo spot, love exploring street art, or just want to discover one of the most unique things to do in Deep Ellum, these murals are a must-see.

Naturally, the girly, or better still, pink ones were my favourites! While my toddler liked the ones featuring animals.

History of the Deep Ellum Murals Project

Hundreds of North Texan artists put forward proposals for the murals. Out of these, 42 were chosen to be painted on the streets of Deep Ellum. This was a dramatic, but creative idea to transform and rejuvenate the area.

The project has continued to grow, so there are now way more than 42 murals to discover! The transformation has made Deep Ellum a must-visit and so Instagram-worthy!

The majority of the murals can be found between Commerce Street and Elm Street, Dallas, Texas. I’ve highlighted where I walked on the map. All the murals are on the side streets, so keep your eyes peeled! Why not see how many you can count?

Murals with People

The first is a huge mural by Frank Campagna, which stretches the side of a building on 2618 Elm Street. It is a mix of floral artwork and a 1920s-style lady.

The next mural is located a little further down the street at 2724 Elm Street. It is a well-deserved tribute to healthcare workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. This one was painted by an artist named Steve Hunter.

This Japanese-looking tree scene, painted on two metal sheets, is so beautiful! Unfortunately, I forgot to note the exact location for this one! If you find it, I would love for you to let me know so I can add it here!

I also loved the kissing fish mural; this one can be seen if you go down Murray St., between Commerce and Canton Streets (approximately no. 252).

Another really unique mural in Deep Ellum is a huge flower tower (the photo really doesn’t do that one justice!) on the Case Building at 3131 Main Street.

The final nature-inspired mural you’re going ot want to see is the bright blue floral wall mural. It is also very pretty. You can find this one at 249 S Crowdus Street. (Just off Commerce Street).

Pink & Girly Murals in Deep Ellum

My absolute favourite murals were these lovely pink, girly ones! Located in the car park of the store Flea Style at 3012 Commerce St. If you like these, Flea Style have another really great one inside their Fort Worth Stockyards store.

When I came back to this spot a couple of times to take photos for my Instagram, the car park was closed. The store was also undergoing renovations, so that might be why!

Motivational Quote Murals

There are quite a few motivational quotes around the walls of Deep Ellum. These are two of my favourites.

Firstly, the Believe in Yourself Mural is located on the same street as the blue flower mural I mentioned earlier. (at 249 S Crowdus Street.)

Located at 3601 Main Street. This mural is quite far away from most of the others but it’s definitely worth the walk. This mural is huge, the Elephants are larger than life!

My toddler especially loved these!

Where to Eat in Deep Ellum

If you need a food break while searching for all the murals, you’ll find plenty of options in Deep Ellum. We stopped for a quick coffee and brunch at All Good Cafe.

This cafe is a really cool design with lots of paper aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling and the staff were really friendly.
