SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR BUSY MUMS

Dubrovnik City Walls

You’re a mum. You’re busy, you’re tired, juggling a hundred things, and you need a simple skincare routine but don’t know where to start. That was also me a couple of months ago. I finally made the time to sort out my skincare and I’m so pleased I did.

As busy mums, we need a simple, routine that doesn’t take too much time. I also wanted it to be affordable as, when you’re just starting, you might need to try a few different things to determine what works best for you. Skincare is completely different for everyone, I didnt want to spend a fortune before testing what works. The products I’m going to share have been great for me and are well worth trying.

STARTING YOUR SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE

As well as finding skin care products that worked, I also made sure to take care of my skin from the inside. These tips may sound obvious but I’m going to say them anyway as a reminder.

Drink plenty of water. I’ve started to make sure I drink a glass of water first thing in the morning. I now keep a glass of water in the kitchen and make sure to gulp some down every chance I get.

Also, remember fruit and vegetables. I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly buying, peeling and chopping fruit for my kids but not eating enough myself. Now I make sure when they have some, so do I!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Firstly, you need to determine your skin issues and work out which products target them.

The biggest issue I had was my skin looked dull and tired. I’m a stay-at-home mum to two little boys, I am tired! I also wanted even my skin tone and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin C is a great product for dull skin, so that was my starting point. The reviews of these Garnier products said you’ll start to see a difference in just 3 days. I was sceptical about this but actually, I did notice visible results that quickly!

All the products I’ve mentioned are regularly on offer in both Boots and Superdrug!

MORNING SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE

morning skincare products

PRODUCTS: CLEANSING MILK | REUSEABLE PADS | VITAMIN C SERUM | DAY CREAM

Mornings in my house are hectic so I wanted something as easy as possible. I just use two products:

The Garnier Natural Rose Cleansing Milk – this is a really natural product and gently removes any impurities on your skin. Simply, apply it with a reusable pad. I have the ones linked and also a set from Primark – they’re basically the same!

Then, I use my fingers to apply Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Serum Cream – this is perfect for targeting dull uneven skin and also has SPF in it, I put this on first thing so it has sunk in by the time I do my makeup.

I also tried a third product. The Garnier Vitamin C Brightening Day Cream. I stopped using this as I didn’t like the smell and it left my skin quite greasy. I feel like you either need this or the serum, for me, both together were too much.

EVENING SIMPLE SKINCARE ROUTINE

Evening Skincare Products

PRODUCTS: CLEANSING MILK | REUSEABLE PADS | CLEANSING WASH | EYE CREAM | NIGHT SERUM | FACE CREAM

I’ve switched to showering in the evening and it has been a game-changer for me. It frees up time in the morning and I can shower and do my skincare without rushing once my boys are in bed.

While I’m in the shower I wash my face with Garnier Micellar Gel Face Wash – this is great at getting rid of makeup while being gentle on your skin.

Then I use the same Garnier Natural Rose Cleansing Milk as in the morning. This makes sure any remaining makeup is removed and hydrates the skin.

I’ve been trying this Revolution Pro Miracle Cream. It’s definitely a dupe of Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. In my honest opinion, the Revolution one is good but not as good as Charlotte’s. However, it is £10 compared to £80 so that depends on your budget!

Finally, before bed, I use two more products. The Garnier Brightening 4% Vitamin C Eye Cream – this is my favourite and I’ve seen a massive improvement in my under-eye area.

Then the Garnier Night Serum, 10% Pure Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid – this has made my skin noticeably brighter overall.
