I visited the Christian Dior Exhibition: The Designer of Dreams at the Victoria & Albert Museum and it was truly beautiful. It really inspired my love of fashion again. I thought I’d put together this blog post for anyone who didn’t get to go as sadly, the exhibition is now over.
The exhibition showed over 200 examples of Dior’s couture work from 1947 to today alongside a range of accessories and perfume bottles.
The exhibition was split into different rooms. Each room had been beautifully designed to perfectly showcase the outfits and tell the story of Dior’s creations.

Christian Dior Exhibition: The Designer of Dreams – Chateau Room
Decorated in the style of a gorgeous vintage-looking French Chateau, this is one of the first rooms you see. The attention to detail in this room is simply stunning, really giving you the impression you’re in Dior’s Parisian home.
Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams Exhibition – Toile Room
A large room containing many examples of toiles (the samples of outfits in a plain fabric.) These can be altered as many times as needed to get the shape and fit right. The final garment will then be made using luxury fabrics once the toile is perfect.
You can spot some of the matching toiles and final garments throughout the exhibition.
Christian Dior Exhibition: The Designer of Dreams – Garden Room
This was my absolute favourite room. Hanging down from the ceiling and covering the walls were huge clusters of beautiful paper flowers. I would just love something like this in my office!
The dresses in this room were just as stunning and pretty as the decor!
Christian Dior Exhibition: The Designer of Dreams – Ballroom
The grandest room of the exhibition, showcasing some of Dior’s most spectacular creations. Set up and decorated in the style of a ballroom with lighting effect taking you from a bright day to a starry evening sky. It was truly magical to sit and watch.
