What Is the Joolz Aer+?

The Joolz Aer+ stroller (pushchair) is a lightweight, compact travel stroller designed for families on the go. Known for its sleek design and easy one-handed fold, the Aer+ is the newer version of the original Joolz Aer. It has a better recline, a larger sunshade, and upgraded suspension. It’s designed to be cabin-size, meaning it fits in most airline overhead compartments. This makes it a top choice for frequent travellers or city parents who need something durable and portable.

Weighing just 6kg and recommended from 6 months up (or from birth with the bassinet attachment) to children 22kg, the Joolz Aer+ combines convenience with comfort. It’s ideal for day trips, family vacations, or quick errands when you want something lighter than a full-size pushchair.

Key Features of the Joolz Aer+

To start this Joolz Aer+ review, I’m going to list some of its key features. The Joolz Aer+ is packed with thoughtful features that make it one of the best options for families who need a reliable cabin baggage stroller. Whether you’re navigating busy airports, travelling on public transport, or just need something lightweight for everyday use, here’s what stands out:

  • Ultra-Lightweight Design: The Joolz Aer weighs just 6kg, making it easy to carry, lift, and store, even when you’re juggling a toddler and a suitcase.
  • Compact Fold: It folds in seconds using just one hand, and the slim design means it easily fits into aeroplane overhead compartments on most major airlines.
  • Deep Recline for Naps on the Go: The Joolz Aer+ recline angle goes almost fully flat. This makes it much more nap-friendly than the original model. It’s a great option for younger toddlers who still need a good rest while out and about.
  • Ergonomic Seat: The seat is supportive and spacious, and the Joolz Aer recliner makes it easy to adjust for comfort as your child grows.
  • Cabin-Approved Size: This is truly a cabin-size stroller, ideal for air travel. It’s IATA-approved and has been successfully used as a carry-on by many parents (including me!).
  • Guaranteed for 10 years: Joolz are so confident in their quality, they guarantee it for 10 years! You can transfer this, so if you sell it after 5 years, the new owner gets the additional 5 years of coverage.
  • Made from Recycled Materials

Joolz Aer+ Review: Pros and Cons

Below is our review of the Joolz Aer+, with a detailed list of all the pros and cons of this travel stroller.

Pros of the Joolz Aer+

  • Lightweight: It’s very lightweight and glides along easily when you push it. Even if you only use one hand.
  • Easy to Fold: It has a one-handed fold/ unfold design, which is very easy after a couple of practices.
  • Supportive Seat: The seat is sturdy and comfortable; both my 3.5-year-old and my 4-month-old rode in it comfortably. (It does say suitable for age 6m+ but my baby was very happy in it, so use your judgement.)
  • Storage Basket: The basket feels small next to our UppaVista’s, but it’s a great size for a compact stroller — and easy to access too.
  • Full Recline: It can fully recline for nap time or be at an angle depending on your preference. See the photos below.
  • Cabin Approved Size: Fits in the plane’s overhead storage for travel. We’ve used it on many flights now and never had a problem! Most airlines have let us take it on board for free; however, they might ask you to gate check it on busy flights.
  • Storage Bag Included: It comes with a handy storage bag for travel or storage.
  • 10-Year Guarantee: It also comes with a 10-year transferable guarantee. Meaning if you hand down or sell after 4 years, the new owner will get the remaining 6 years of the guarantee!
  • Optional Accessories: There is an option to add a footboard. There is also an option to buy a bassinet and some other helpful accessories. I will talk more about the Joolz Aer accessories below and which ones are worth purchasing.
  • Strong, Durable Fabrics: The water-resistant fabric uses recycled materials and feels built to last.
  • Colour Options: It comes in a variety of colour options, so there should be something to suit everyone.

Cons of the Joolz Aer+

There aren’t many cons to this pushchair, but an honest Joolz Aer+ review wouldn’t be complete without listing a couple.

  • Cost: This is a premium travel stroller, and it is more expensive than some of the budget options. At £429 ($499) for the pushchair, plus extra for some of the accessories, it isn’t a cheap purchase. For us, it has been worth the expense; hopefully, reading this post will help you decide if it is worth it for you!
  • Additional Accessories: To add to my previous point, the storage bag is included, but you have to purchase all the other accessories, including the rain cover and footrest, separately. I didn’t buy either of these. The footrest hasn’t been needed, and I use the rain cover from our other pushchair. I did buy the footboard, and I will talk more about that and other optional accessories below.
  • The footboard could be improved: As a stroller for one child, I can’t fault the Joolz Aer+. We have used the footboard a lot, and in full honesty, the kickboard design does let this stroller down slightly. I’ll review it in more detail below.

How Does the Joolz Aer+ Compare to Other Travel Strollers?

The three main travel strollers that are cabin-approved are: The Joolz Aer, The YoYo Babyzen and the Bugaboo Butterfly. I’ve written a full guide comparing these three options, in short, the Yoyo was the original cabin-approved travel stroller. In my opinion, it is now rather outdated and seems very flimsy compared to either the Joolz or Bugaboo options.

The Joolz Are+ and Bugaboo Butterfly are fairly similar. I had discounted the Yoyo, but when deciding on the Bugaboo Butterfly vs the Joolz Aer, it came down to a few key factors. Largely, I previously had a Bugaboo Chameleon as our main pushchair, and it was awful! This put me off purchasing another Budaboo product. Secondly, the 10-year guarantee is a massive benefit that Bugaboo doesn’t offer. Finally, the Joolz had a wider variety of colour options, as well as using recycled material,s which made it seem overall a better choice!

Joolz Aer+ Accessories You’ll Actually Use

There are lots of additional accessories for the Joolz Aer that you may or may not need to add on. I shall talk more about each of them below, and if they are worth the additional cost.

Carrycot

If the Joolz Aer is going to be your main stroller, then you will likely want to purchase the Joolz Aer+ carrycot this converts this pushchair to be suitable from birth. Even though the standard seat is recommended for ages 6 months and up, we started using our Joolz Aer when my little one was 4 months old. We found he could sit in the seat completely fine, so use your own judgement here. This meant we could avoid buying the carrycot.

Joolz Buggy Board Review

I mentioned already that we have used the Joolz Aer+ footboard a lot. I’m so glad we purchased this stroller, it has been a lifesaver on trips for my eldest as we tend to do a lot of walking. However, I dont love it as much as I love the pushchair itself. I’m going to review the pros and cons of it fully below:

Joolz Footboard Cons:

  • It sticks out quite far, so you have to walk to the side (which is a similar problem on any stroller).
  • Having the attached board makes it difficult to reach the break.
  • You can’t fold the board up when it’s not in use, as it falls down, which is a bit annoying.

Joolz Footboard Pros:

  • As it’s so lightweight, you can still push it easily, even with one hand on flat surfaces.
  • My older one loves the board’s seat, and it was a lifesaver when he got tired.
  • It’s very easy to remove and attach the board
  • Remove the seat, and you can fold the stroller with the board still attached. It still fits in the overhead storage like this.

Our well-used Joolz Aer+ folded with and without the footboard attached (the seat can be removed and stored inside)

Carseat Adapters

It is possible to convert the Joolz Aer to have a car seat clip onto it. To do this, you will have to purchase the Joolz Aer Plus Car Seat Adapters. This makes it compatible with a range of car seats, including Nuna Pipa, Nuna Pipa RX, Nuna Pipa Lite, Nuna Pipa Lite R, Nuna Pipa Lite LX, Maxi Cosi Pebble, Maxi Cosi Pebble Plus and Maxi Cosi Pebble Pro.

Living in the city, we dont have a car. So, I haven’t tried or tested any of these personally. If you do plan to be on the go in the car a lot. This will be a helpful purchase, especially in the early days when naps are unpredictable.

Other Joolz Aer+ Accessories:

There are a few other accessories which I will give quick thoughts on below:

  • The Bumper Bar – This is a bar that goes across the pushchair, supposedly to add more safety for your little one. Both my kids have had a strong dislike for bumper bars and I haven’t used one on any stroller. So for £45, this is one thing I wouldn’t bother with!
  • A Rain Cover – Joolz have a separate rain cover for the carrycot and one for the Joolz Aer Stroller. Annoyingly, they didnt make one to fit both. Personally, I didnt buy a Joolz brand one, I used one from my old pushchair, and when we lost that, I got a universal pushchair rain cover that was much cheaper and worked fine.
  • The Joolz Organiser Bag – this bag comes in matching colours to the pushchair and would give you a bit of extra storage space, which is always handy to have. This wasn’t available when we first got our Joolz Aer, or I would have considered it. I do wonder if it would be a bit in the way, as it attaches to the handles. Personally, I have these pram clips that we use instead and they cost a fraction of the cost.
  • A Footmuff – If this is going to be your main stroller and you live somewhere that gets cold, you’ll definitely want a footmuff to keep your little one nice and warm. I found that the one we already had from our UppaBaby Vista fit the Joolz as well (it made it a bit more bulky when folded) so I didnt buy an additional one.
  • A Leg Rest – it seems very strange to sell a leg rest separately. I didn’t feel the need to buy this, nor have I ever felt my children needed it!
  • A Cup Holder – another thing that would make a great gift! If you want a cup holder, I think the branded one is worth it as sometimes, universal ones don’t fit as well and wobble about. Spilling a hot drink on a baby isn’t worth risking!

Is the Joolz Aer+ Worth It? My Honest Thoughts After Using It With My Kids

To conclude our Joolz Aer+ review, the features I’ve discussed above, combined with a premium finish and thoughtful design, make the Joolz Aer+ one of the top travel strollers for 2025.

The Joolz Aer+ is a premium travel stroller, so it is more expensive than some budget competitors. Consider if it’s worth the expense for your family. For us, we travel a lot and have absolutely got our money’s worth out of it. If you’re looking for something good, quality, durable and comfortable. This will certainly tick those boxes.

Previously, when we travelled, we had two strollers returned from the plane with damaged wheels. Sometimes insurance will cover the damage, but this doesn’t help you when you’re exploring your destination and the wheel keeps falling off!

For this reason, it was essential for us that it was cabin-approved and could fit in the overhead storage on the plane. There are some cheaper alternatives available on Amazon; however, when checking the weight limit, they’re only really suitable for smaller children. At the time of purchase, we had a 4-month-old and a 3-year-old, and we wanted them both to be able to use it. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. We had a couple of cheaper options before this one, and I wish I just got this at the start!

We genuinely love using our Joolz Aer+ stroller and highly recommend it.

Where to Buy the Joolz Aer+ (UK & US)

Updated for 2026: The Joolz Aer+ is now stocked in lots of popular retailers, but it keeps going out of stock! It is always worth shopping around for the best deal. At the time of writing, the best price was on a Natural Baby shower in the UK and Bloomingdale’s in the USA!

From buying the Joolz Aer+ I got enough points for a $100 Bloomingdales gift card, which you can spend on anything at Bloomingdale’s! We used it to buy the footboard.

Thank you for reading my Joolz Aer+ review. I hope this post has helped you decide if this stroller is right for you!

Happy Exploring,

Alex

  7. Great review! I’m torn between [Stroller A] and [Stroller B]. As a parent who often travels, I’m looking for something that’s easy to fold and fits in overhead compartments. Any thoughts?
