🥐 Start your day with a great breakfast, maybe even a treat! Churros in Seville was particularly popular with my kids. This gets the day off to the best start and everyone will be in a better mood!

🗽 Remember you don’t need to do everything. Pick one main activity per day and do it early in the day when everyone is feeling fresh. Especially if it’s something you’re paying for!

🛏️ City breaks can be a lot of walking. Planning some time in the afternoon has been a game changer for us!

🛝 Say yes to every playground you see. Amazing that kids are too tired to walk can run in the playground for ages 🤷🏽‍♀️ even giving them 10 minutes makes them happy!

🍦 Regular ice cream or other snack breaks are life!

I’d read that the Belvedere Murgia Timone hike is one of the best things to do in Matera. No where mentioned it cost €15 per person in peak season (under 6s go free). One blog actually said it’s free, so I think this is a new charge.

I’m pretty horrified they are charging people so much to experience nature. 😳

So why did we pay it? Mainly because we’d already hyped our kids up for it and they were really excited for it. Also because we just wanted to do it and who knows if we’ll ever be back in Matera.

Matera is a incredible city and the views are insanely beautiful!

🚨 another new rule is that you have to wear proper trainers or hiking boots. There’s a man on the entrance enforcing the rule. So we also had to have a trip to the shoe shop 🙈

It was expensive, but we had a lovely family travel day and it’s a memory we’ll never forget!
