These are the kinds of places that make New York feel less overwhelming with little kids, more space, better views, playground stops, and a slower pace while still feeling exciting.

📍 Governors Island - Our absolute favourite.
Perfect for biking, playgrounds, skyline views, and letting kids run around freely away from the Manhattan crowds.
📍 DUMBO, Brooklyn - The most iconic.
One of our favourite NYC neighbourhoods for families — waterfront walks, Jane’s Carousel, pizza, parks, and those iconic bridge views.
📍 Long Island City - A hidden gem.
So underrated for family travel. Amazing parks, incredible Manhattan skyline views, relaxed cafés and breweries with a much calmer than central Manhattan.

Honestly, some of our favourite New York memories happened outside the main tourist areas.

🇲🇪 This boat trip ended up being one of our favourite family travel experiences in Montenegro ✨

Lake Skadar feels incredibly peaceful, and exploring it by boat was such an easy, relaxing activity with the kids. Plus, parents are given a glass of wine!

There’s something really special about slow travel days like this, beautiful scenery, wildlife, and enough downtime that parents can actually enjoy it too.

If you’re planning a family trip to Montenegro, I honestly think this should be on your European bucket list.
