It’s also known as the Walkie Talkie building and is located at 20 Fenchurch Street, in the city of London. The closest tube station to the is Monument (on the District Line and Circle Line), however, there are quite a few other tube stations within walking distance. London Bridge train Station is also only a 10-minute walk away.
OPENING TIMES
The Sky Garden is open from 10am – 6pm on weekdays and 11am – 9pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
TICKETS
The Sky Garden is one of the great FREE family activities in London. However, you do need to book a ticket, I’ve linked their website HERE. They are released every Monday morning 3 weeks in advance for the whole week. So set yourself a reminder to get them.
If you miss out on booking tickets, there are some walk-in spaces available, you’ll just have to try on the day. Alternatively, I recommend the Garden at 120. It’s not as high but it is also free and no booking is required!
SECURITY
You have to go through security to enter and your bags go through a scanner. If you’re bringing a stroller/ pushchair, have everything ready in a bag so it’s easy to unload.
NOTE: you are not allowed to take oversized bags or suitcases into The Sky Garden.
ACCESSIBILITY
the first viewing platform is 35 floors up, is accessed by a lift (elevator). This makes the Sky Garden London accessible for families with young children. There is also a disabled access elevator taking you up to the 38th floor. However, there are steps up/ down each side and this is where you get the best views.
Tips for visiting Sky Garden London with a stroller: All the steps make it, not very pushchair / stroller-friendly inside.
Either you can take turns took turns walking around with the kids while the other has a rest/ watches the pushchair. Or, people had left small strollers to the side at the bottom of the stairs. Of course, don’t leave any valuables unattended.
We had no problems with our pushchair but if possible leave yours at home/ your hotel and use a baby carrier.
FOOD & DRINKS
You’re not allowed to take in your own food however we were able to take in the kid’s drinks and snacks. There is a cafe selling cocktails, coffee cake etc and tables ideal for kids (no purchase necessary) There are also two restaurants but we didn’t eat there.
VIEWS
We found The Sky Garden to be a great London viewpoint suitable for families. You get great views of The Shard, Tower Bridge, The River Thames and much more.
FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE SKY GARDEN LONDON WITH KIDS
Overall, we think visiting The Sky Garden is one of the best things to do in London with toddlers/children. Our 4-year-old loved it and kept asking to go back. It’s especially great as it is a free activity – if you have little kids and they’re not in the mood so, you end up not spending too long there it doesn’t matter!
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy visiting the Sky Garden London with kids. I hope we’ve helped you to plan your trip and you have an amazing time!
