GUIDE TO THE BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN WITH THE KIDS
AMAZING DAY TRIPS FROM MANHATTAN
We decided to visit the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with the kids, mainly because, I wanted to see the cherry blossoms, but surprisingly, we all had an amazing day!
This is a really easy day trip you can do if you visit Manhattan. We took the Q line subway to Prospect Park and the Botanic Garden is just a 15-minute walk away. Prospect Park is a stop with an elevator (lift) making it ideal for people with strollers (pushchairs.)
If you’re hoping to see the cherry blossoms, they typically bloom around the end of April. The rest of the garden is open year-round, check the website for opening times.
We initially thought we check out the blossoms and then move on to somewhere more child-friendly but we ended up spending the full day here and wishing we had longer!

CHERRY BLOSSOMS AT BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN
I loved the Cherry Esplanade and would highly recommend it. At just 2 months old, Jaxon was still very sleepy during our visit. My older son Freddie, was 3 and a half and he also had a great time. He enjoyed running around the trees and climbing the ‘zig-zag hill’. I also managed to get some lovely family photos!

After seeing the blossoms we walked around the pond. Freddie enjoyed climbing on the rocks here. We then went on to The Discovery Garden. This area is so beautifully designed for young children and Freddie had the best time exploring here and learning about nature.
There are so many interactive activities that are not only fun but also educational. Just perfect to keep young children entertained. Below are some photos of our favourite things there.
We hope you have the best time in New York City!
