When is the Best Time to Find Cherry Blossoms in Central Park?

Typically, cherry blossoms bloom early to mid-April. This year, (2022) some bloomed at the end of March. As I mentioned previously, they usually last a maximum of 2 weeks.

Tips on Getting the Perfect Cherry Blossom Photos:

As soon as the sun comes out the park can get very crowded. The best time to take photos without crowds of people in them is early in the morning. If you’re not in a rush, you can wait for a break in the traffic and usually find an angle with no one in the background!

Alternatively, the park will be much quieter on a rainy day!

Where are the Best Places to Find Cherry Blossom in Central Park?

1. Pilgrim Hill

Location: Just below Conservatory Water, you’ll find the closet entrance at East 72nd Street.

Named after the statue that stands at the top of the hill. The statue is surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees which make a perfect photo backdrop.

Here’s how mine turned out:

2. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir

First Location: Bride Path on the West Side of the park. You’ll find the closest entrance is West 86th Street.

The blossoms on the West Side were the first to bloom this year, I took the left photo on the 27th of March. They’re also a much deeper pink than most of the other blossoms which are lovely!

Mid-end of April the blossoms really explode around the Bridle Path. The middle photo shows them. The path is actually completely covered with a canopy of blossom. It was impossible to get a photo as it was so busy. Try to go early morning!

Second Location: Bride Path on the East side of the park, you’ll see them from the East 90th Street Entrance.

The blossom on the East Side came later, on about the 3rd of April, by the end of April they were in full bloom. (Photo on the right.)

3. Next to The Alice in Wonderland Statue

Location: Right next to the Alice in Wonderland Statue is a gorgeous low hanging cherry blossom tree. You’ll also find lots more beautiful options between the statue and East Drive.

4. Cherry Hill

Location: start at the water fountain at the top of Cherry Hill. Then walk down the hill towards The Lake for possibly the best cherry blossom view in all of Central Park! The closest entrance is West 72nd Street.

Being so beautiful also makes this a really busy location.

The first photo below is by the fountain at Cherry Hill. The others are from down the hill. One is a real shot of how busy it is there. The third image was a shot I took on that day, it had to be a close up to avoid having lots of people in it. The final image was taken on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, if you look closely at my booties, you can see how wet they are!

Thank you for reading my guide on the best places to find cherry blossoms in Central Park. I hope you get some beautiful photos!
